A new trailer of off-the-wall black comedy Weeds has been released to tease and tantalize us until the premiere of its sixth series, which is set to air on August 16.
When we met suburban housewife Nancy Botwin back in Season 1 she was just dipping her toe in the vast ocean of marijuana dealing to make ends meet after the sudden death of husband Judah. As the seasons progressed we've seen her little business venture get ever-so-slightly out of hand, what with rival drug-dealers, Armenian mobsters, prostitute-smuggling and a touch of casual contract killing.
While these aforementioned shenanigans can't really be described as dull, Season 6 promises to shake things up a bit, as the Botwins embark on a life on the run following young Shane's altercation with Pilar. An altercation, incidentally, which left her face-down in a swimming pool and him holding a croquet mallet looking pretty guilty. Despite renaming themselves 'the Newmans' ('new' 'man'...get it?) and Nancy's determination to turn over a new leaf (preferably not of the marijuana variety...), it seems fairly unlikely that life will be plain sailing from here on out.
What with neighbours buried under swimming pools in Wisteria Lane and soccer moms morphing into dangerous drug smugglers, suburbia has never seemed so much fun.
