War Of The Gods Now Called Immortals
Greek mythology adventure finally renamed after much deliberation
Thursday, April 8th 2010 | 12:04:31
Having gone through various incarnations, including Dawn Of War, the movie formerly known as War Of The Gods has been rebranded as simply Immortals.
The hotly anticipated Immortals tells the mythological tale of the young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.
As well as the name change, which some have speculated is an attempt to distance the movie from the recent Greek mythology film Clash Of The Titans, producers announced some new cast members. John Hurt and Isabel Lucas will join Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto and Mickey Rourke in the movie's cast. Hurt will play the earthly incarnation of Zeus, who acts as a mentor to the young warrior Theseus (Cavill) and Transformers' Isabel Lucas will portray Athena, Zeus' daughter whose loyalty is tested as the war between the gods and Titans looms.
Filming of Immortals is already underway, with shooting this week in Montreal being overseen by director Tarsem Singh. The movie, whose script was finalised by writer Jason Keller, will be produced by Hollywood Gang Productions, Atmosphere Entertainment and Relativity Media.
