With the film set to go into production soon (actor Simon Pegg recently tweeted he was off to the US to film), news has recahed the interwebs that Star Trek 2 has added two new cast members to its roster, and they're British! Variety are reporting that both actor/director Noel Clarke and the BBC's Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch, have joined the cast of the J.J. Abrams directed sci-fi blockbuster.
Variety also says the cast for Star Trek 2 includes Alice Eve and Peter Weller, in addition to the returning cast from the first movie. Once again the film is being penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci & Damon Lindelof, with Paramount looking for a May 17th 2013 release.
