Training Day Writer To Remake Commando

Deadline have broken the story that writer/director David Ayer - best known for (writing) Training Day - has been handed control Fox's planned remake of the 1985 'classic' Commando.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger starring original told the story of a retired commando (it's in the title stupid!) trying to rescue his daughter who's been abducted by an international warlord.

We remember Commando is being a little bloody silly so we'll be amused and surprised to see whether Ayer's trademark take on violent urban realism can turn the premise into anything other than a Taken clone.
