Harry Potter star Tom Felton is the latest member to be added to the cast of the Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Apes. He will play the son of Brian Cox, the villain of the piece who runs a primate sanctuary but cares little for the apes themselves.
Felton is just the latest star to sign up to Rupert Wyatt's highly anticipated film that will allegedly be a reality-based cautionary tale about a group of scientists that go too far and end up affording the primates advanced intelligence, something that provokes a fight for supremacy. James Franco, star of Spider-Man, is to play the lead, and John Lithgow and Don Cheadle have also been signed up. Andy Serkis will play Caeser, the leader of the simian revolt, and to add a little glamour to the production, the absolutely gorgeous Freida Pinto has also been thrown into the mix to play another scientist.
This is exciting news both for Felton and for Planet of the Apes fans. It is not yet known how big a role he will have, but as many of us will know, he makes a great villain as Draco Malfoy in the world-famous Harry Potter films, and so it is pleasing to see him reprise this type of character. We're sure he's lovely in real life... he's just a fantastic vile person on-screen.
