After chatting to Emily Blunt a few months ago during the publicity push for The Wolfman, we were intrigued to hear about her next project, a sci-fi thriller called The Adjustment Bureau in which she'd be staring opposite Matt Damon. We thought it sounded like a juicy concept, and now that the trailer has been released on Yahoo Movies, we have high hopes for the July 30 release.
The film is loosely based on the Philip K Dick short story The Adjustment Team and sees Damon playing ambitious politician David Norris. He meets and falls for ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Blunt), but then comes up against mysterious agents from an agency known as the Adjustment Bureau who claim to control the world and ensure that everyone in it sticks to their pre-assigned plan. According to them, David's relationship with Elise is playing havoc with their plans, so now he must decide whether to let her go or risk both their lives in order to stay together...
It's an intriguing concept, and the trailer seems to show lots of fast-paced action, which is of course what Damon does best. And look out for Terence Stamp and Mad Men John Slattery as the sinister agents...
