Steve Martin To Hunt Birds Instead Of Hoffman

Fresh from his comedic turn in It's Complicated, Steve Martin will be replacing Dustin Hoffman in a quirky bird-watching comedy - The Big Year. Martin joins Jack Black and Owen Wilson on the set with director David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada).

Adapted by Howard Franklin from Mark Obmascik's book The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession, the film chronicles the adventures of three contenders during a 365-day long quirky competition in which participants have to spot as many bird species as they can. This quest takes the three fierce competitors to strange, generally unknown islands throughout North America.

Filming starts in Canada this May.
