Robert Rodriguez Offered Deadpool
Director's chair held out for Sin City helmer...

Since X-Men Origins: Wolverine opened last year, Fox has been actively developing Deadpool, a film to expand on the character played by Ryan Reynolds in the fourth X-Men installment. Now it looks as though the studio has offered the directing gig to Robert Rodriguez, although he has yet to accept.
At the beginning of the year Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to write the first draft of the Deadpool script. Ryan Reynolds has been attached for a while to replay his role, although a spanner was thrown into the works somewhat when he signed on to star in Green Lantern, but is apparently just as involved as ever with the project.
Rodriguez has just finished work on Machete and has future projects like Sin City 2 and Nerveracker on his slate, so it's unclear yet whether he will accept a place in the director's chair for Deadpool, but if he does, we can expect things to progress more steadily with the Fox feature.
