Patrick Lussier And Todd Farmer Take On Hellraiser

The latest names to be linked to the remake of Barker’s landmark horror Thursday, October 21st 2010 | 12:57:17

It seems Dimension are trying to raise a lot of anticipation and speculation before they actually start raising some hell, with still no definitive word from the company behind the remake of 1987 Clive Barker horror Hellraiser.

Just yesterday we heard that Christian E. Christiansen was in place to direct, before that Julien Maury and Pascal Laugier had been linked to the Hellraiser Remake, but there now appears an air of certainty around Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer. The dismissal of Christiansen could have had something to do with his proposal to make a PG-13 Hellraiser, alongside the suggestion of Amber Heard as lead, two ideas which would have made fans of the original hang their heads in 'horrofied' shame.

According to Collider the directors of My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry 3D have definitely been confirmed to direct the film, so we’re hoping Dimension might let us know how their planning to tackle the movie. The original plot features an unfaithful wife who encounters the zombie of her dead lover, who's being chased by demons after escaping from a sado-masochistic Hell (none of which sounds very PG Mr Christiansen). The notions of lust and the dark consequences of desire are represented in the genuinely disturbing figure of Pinhead.

There’s some good material in the source novella A Hellbound Heart, which could yet again produce a horror to make one’s skin crawl. Whether it’ll benefit from the 3D effect (we’re guessing it will be) is hard to say. ‘We’ve got such sights to show you’ is now an iconic Pinhead line from the film, let’s hope he was talking about the Lussier-Farmer Remake too…

We’ll let you know once Dimension have ‘pinned’ down some actors for the film. In the mean time who would you like to see striking terror into our hearts in the horror?
