If the fact that it’s directed by Danny Boyle, the rave festival reviews it has recieved or the fantastic first trailer didn’t convince you that 127 Hours wil be one of the unmissable films of the year (okay, technically next year for the UK), then the second trailer for certainly will.
Following the incredible true story of Aron Ralston, the trailer exhibits some striking cinematography but more importantly a glimpse of some of James Franco’s powerhouse performance. In just two and a bit minutes we can see that he is portrayed as a flawed and completely believable character whose adrenaline-junkie attitude results in him becoming trapped in a fault in a rock with his arm crushed by a boulder.
Using his video camera to retain his sanity and continue to fight for his life, the moment he is leaving a message for his famiy is heartbreaking and Boyle could well be on his way to another Oscar after his Slumdog Millionaire triumph in 2008.
