He's known for his intensity and for being quite the workaholic around Hollywood, so it's no wonder that James Franco has optioned a seriously challenging book to produce, direct and star in a film version of.
Lest he get complacent with promoting two films and acting in another right now -he'll shortly be bringing 127 Hours (127 Hours) and Howlto the LFF, whilst taking a short break from filming Rise of the Apes- he's just gone and got himself a totally controversial biopic to work on.
Stephen Elliott’s The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism and Murder, tells of the writer's fractious youth which led to drug problems and sex addiction, including specifically masochistic tendencies, as well as exploring the idea that his own father might well have been a murderer. All of which seems like perfect source material to continue cutting your teeth on as a feature film director of course.
So what do you think of Franco's potential take on such serious source material? Is it going to be Fear and Loathing, or more Feared and Loathsome?
