Halle Berry, Tom Hanks And Natalie Portman Cast In Cloud Atlas

The Watchowski’s latest project… Wednesday, December 1st 2010 | 16:19:02

After the rumours that have been circulating for some time about the future of the Wachowski’s project Cloud Atlas it has now been confirmed that is to go ahead. In an interview promoting her latest film Frankie and Alice ( and who's trailer arrived today), Halle Berry revealed that she, Natalie Portman and Tom Hanks have been cast.

She describes it as "sort of what they did for The Matrix, they have another really amazing idea that's going to stretch our brains even further." And the story is an adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel of the same name, following six different narratives, loosely connected and spanning across various time periods. From the remote South Pacific in the nineteenth century to the far future after a nuclear apocalypse. Each tale is told from the point of view from the the main character in the next. Ian McKellen and James McAvoy were allegedly also being sought after earlier on in the year but but no further news has been heard regarding their involvement.

Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) was also penned to direct but it sounds as thiough the watchowski’s may be directing it themselves as well as producing though from Halle’s interview, which is the first real confirmation, it isnt really clarified yet.

Watch this space for more updates and if there are any fans of the book, out there let us know what you think about this adaptation, should they cover all six narratives or will this leave the storyline too choppy and complicated?
