Gore Verbinski Takes On The Lone Rider

Re-teaming with pirates star Johnny Depp so they'll never be lonely Tuesday, September 28th 2010 | 12:52:22

Johnny Depp must have been getting a bit lonely up there on his horse ready for The Lone Ranger (The Lone Ranger), while no director came to his aid. But now it seems that Disney favourite and Pirates of the Caribbean cohort Gore Verbinski is looking to jump in the saddle with him.

While Verbinski has washed his hands of the Pirates franchise for now - leaving the fourth installment On Stranger Tides to Rob Marshall - he still has a great relationship with Disney and Depp, who he also worked with on lizard caper Rangowhich hits screens early next year.

Depp, has been attached to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger for some time, but that hasn't made the production move any quicker, especially as Johnny has Tim Burton's Dark Shadowson his schedule too. But perhaps now that Verbinski has jumped on board, this Lone Ranger can ride sooner rather than later.

What do you make of Verbinski taking up the helm?
