Emily Blunt Signs On For Rian Johnson's Looper

Brit actress joins Joseph Gordon-Levitt in time-travel thriller... Friday, October 1st 2010 | 12:55:07

Slashfilm is reporting that Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, The Young Victoria) is attached to star in Brick director Rian Johnson's lastest film Looper. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who worked with Johnson previously on Brick will also be starring.

The story, which takes place in the near future where the prospect of time travel is becoming more and more of a possibility (but hasn't been made possible quite yet). But that's the thing about time travel, in the future it has been invented and a group of killers (called Loopers) working for a crime syndicate use time travel to send badies back in time, therefore removing them from their timeline, allowing them to dispose of all evidence and leave the victim untraceable - my, these criminals are getting clever!

Blunt will be playing the famale lead who encounters Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Looper hiding out on her farm after being forced to go on the run when 'complications occur'. Bruce Willis has also been cast as a Looper from the future.

It definitely sounds like an interesting premise and is a nice twist in the usual time-travel conventions. With Johnson's previous films (including delightfully eccentric The Brothers Bloom) having such a unique style, we're looking forward to this one, are you? Let us know what you think...
