Directing Challenge For Josh Brolin

He’s adapting Dominique Cieri’s play Pitz and Joe for the cinema Friday, December 3rd 2010 | 12:29:22

Still a newcomer to the director’s chair Josh Brolin is striking out into unknown territory with a decision to adapt the play Pitz and Joe for the big screen.  The actor cut his directorial teeth back in 2008 with short film X (starring his daughter and step daughter), about an inmate who escapes from prison to reunite with his daughter and search for her murdered mother's body in order to give her a proper burial. The film was well received, which is probably one of the reasons that Warner Bros. is putting up the money for Pitz and Joe… either that or they’re apologising for convincing him Jonah Hex would be a winner.

The play by Ciceri follows a young man who suffers from brain damage during an accident leading him into deep suicidal depression and the relationship he has with his sister, based on real life experiences of the author. Intense emotional waters for the debutante feature director to deal with he’s probably learnt a thing or two in his acting career. Slashfilm informs us Brolin will star, produce and direct the adaptation with Monsters vs. Aliens co-writer Maya Forbes currently working on the screenplay.

We can’t imagine Brolin biting off more than he can chew... his jaws look pretty powerful, so we’re excited to see whom from his acting circle he’ll invite to star alongside him.

Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, all successful actors turned directors or producers, is Brolin set to join them? Let us know below.
