Leonardo DiCaprio is once again portraying a legendary figure; this time the man in question is none other than J. Edgar Hoover, the controversial American who founded the FBI. The film, whose initial plans had been announced in March, has now landed at Warner Bros. and Clint Eastwood will be directing.
The film has made a swift rise to the forefront at Warner, undoubtedly because of Eastwood's directorial successes such as Gran Torino and the knowledge of the appeal that signing Dicaprio would have. Dicaprio has already made a name for himself in the realm of biopics, having portrayed Howard Hughes in The Aviator to critical acclaim.
This should be another interesting role for the actor, as Hoover's story is so multi-faceted. He was rumoured to be gay, a cross-dresser, and a generally outspoken and outlandish character. Dustin Lance Black, who was also the scribe behind the award-winning film, Milk, has penned the script. Thus far, the movie has no official title.
Maybe this project will at last be Dicaprio's golden ticket to a long overdue Oscar? Leave us your thoughts below...
