Oscar winning director Danny Boyle has apparently informed a source of Dread Central that not only has he got a killer story for the next 28 Days Later sequel but that he will be returning to the helm.
Boyle directed the post-apocalyptic shocker about a London decimated by a mysterious virus that turns everyone infected into raging zombie-like montsters back in 2002, well before Slumdog Millionaire became a feel-good box-office sensation and swept up a swathe of Oscars, though he stood aside for the 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later on which he and writer Alex Garland received only executive-producer credits.
28 Months Later has been a welcome and promised prospect since the sequel repeated the critical and audience acclaim of the first film and it's to be hoped that once Boyle's press responsibilities for his latest film 127 Hours (127 Hours) (which will close the London Film Festival in a couple of weeks time) are dispensed with he'll crack on with this long-awaited follow up.
