Looks like the team over at Fox is taking this Planet Of The Apes reboot seriously. Although the choice of Rupert Wyatt as the director was a bit of a surprise, the cast announced thus far has been uniformly strong and the idea to start the film's plot almost at the beginning - though in the middle of the original series - is a wise decision.
Joining the already-confirmed James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, and John Lithgow is the great Brian Cox, who always excels at playing villains. Well, he'll get to add one more to his resumé when he takes up the Rise Of The Apes role of the evil owner of a primate sanctuary who has no compassion for the animals who live there.
Rise Of The Apes will herald a new era in ape creation for the series, as this is the first time the Ape franchise has chosen to turn to computers to make the animals. According to Fox, the goal is that the apes will be photo-realistic this time. But with the movie scheduled to open next June, Wyatt, Cox and co. are going to have to get things moving pretty quickly if they want to have all that animation sorted in time.
