Bob Hoskins Signs On To Brit-Flick Transmission

Upon hearing that a new alien invasion film is in development, Bob Hoskins may not be the first name that springs to mind. Nevertheless Moviehole have announced that this is indeed the case and Hoskins will be starring alongside Talulah Riley (The Boat That Rocked, St. Trinian's) and Jason Flemyng (Stardust, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ) in British sci-fi flick Transmission.

Not much has been revealed so far but we know it is being developed by Gold films and that Willem Dafoe is also in talks to star but has not been confirmed yet. Centered around an alien invasion during a solar eclipse, Moviehole have described it as "Pitch Black meets 28 Days Later".

Unsurprisingly for an effects-heavy film these days, it will be shot in 3D with Roger Christian attatched to direct. Perhaps best known for his Oscar-winning art direction on Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and the rest of the series as well as his work on Alien, Christian is no stranger to sci-fi, however, despite his successes his directorial skills have not been particularly well received and neither of his two efforts in the genre (Starship and Battlefield Earth) were critically acclaimed or financially sucessful.
