Fans of this year’s indie flick Greenberg will be pleased to hear that Ben Stiller will be reteaming with director Noah Baumbach, not for Mr. Popper's Penguins as initially planned, but for a project called While We’re Young. James Franco is also attached to star and offers have been made to Cate Blanchett and Greta Gerwig (who also starred in Greenberg) though they have not yet been accepted.
The script is being kept tightly under wraps, so much so that all we have heard from Vulture is that it follows ‘a freewheeling Brooklyn couple (Franco and Gerwig) [who] bring a little joy and comic chaos into the lives of an uptight documentarian (Stiller) and his wife’ with the role of the wife being the one offered to Blanchett. Not too much to go on but it’s piqued out interest already.
No specific dates have been set yet so we’re hoping the project isn’t left in development limbo for too long and that things continue to move forward. As always we’ll keep you informed with updates as we hear them. Scott Rudin who has been attached to many Baumbach projects in the past has also signed on as producer.
In the meantime leave us a comment below with your thoughts on Stiller and Baumbachs' reunion, did you like Greenberg? Let us know!
