James Cameron has announced that he'll be filming the Avatar sequel at 60 frames per second, with the standard frame-rate being 24. Meanwhile The Hobbit is going with 48fps. However, James Cameron decided that the more frames, the better the 3D, so, he's done the best 3D, now he's doing it even better. Cameron told The Hollywood Reporter:
I believe it makes for better 3D, there were lots of arguments for why 48fps and why 60fps. My feeling is if it is a software upgrade [for digital cinema projectors], do both. It doesn't change anything at the projector; you don't have to change the lamp house or the lenses. If you are uploading software you can upload it for 48 and 60 and let the filmmakers decide.
Going bigger and going better. James Cameron doesn't do things by halves.
