David Slade, the director of the above-average comic book adaptation 30 Days of Night and (urgh) The Twilight Sage: Eclipse, has reportedly been hired by 20th Century Fox to helm the next Daredevil film – yes, Fox are plowing ahead with a new superhero film, and shockingly the film will apparently be a “continuation” of the 2003 original, not a remake or reboot!
Despite the Ben Affleck starring original not setting cinemas alight, taking only $103 milllion in domestic box office (which the studio considered disappointing given the films budget), it did lead to a spin-off in Elektra. Fox are no-doubt hoping for better results from this new movie, however given the characters niche audience that looks doubtful without the pull of a big-name star.
Slade was rumoured to be in talks to direct the new Wolverine movie till that went to Darren Aronofsky, leaving Slade to helm the as-yet-untitled Daredevil film which comes from a script by David Scarpa (The Day The Earth Stood Still).
