i watched this and it was ok i guess, but lon chany jr is a better wolfman and the black and white original was much better.

don't expect the wolfman to bring anything new to the genre (it is based on the lon chaney jr era after all). beautifully shot, sets / costumes are brilliant, david schofield catches the eye in the role of constanble nye. wanted to come away with positive things to say about this movie and whilst i wouldn't criticise it heavily it certainly won't be receiving a great deal of praise. on this form 'the wolfman' is not the new 'vampire'.

i saw the trailer for this before the free screening of wolfman on tuesday night. i had seen that empire are doing screenings in march but really hadn't much fancied it then. however, having seen the trailer it looks absolutely hilarious - unless, of course, the trailer is all the best bits!

i have seen very few horror films, but i enjoyed this unfolding srory which is set in england in 1891. including characters played by benicio del toro, emily blunt and anthony hopkins it manages to hold the tension throughout often without over relying on gory, special effects.
