Synopsis

While John, a soldier, is home on leave, he falls deeply in love with Savannah, a beautiful but conservative college student visiting the town. Though they plan to wed, time and distance take a toll on their commitment to each other after John re-signs on due to the 9/11 attacks. One of them cannot bear it anymore; can the other?

    from the makers of the notebook and starring channing tatum (g.i. joe , step up) and amanda seyfried (mamma mia!), dear john is a romantic drama about a young soldier, john (tatum), who falls in love with a conservative college student, savannah (seyfried) while he's home on leave. over the next seven years the couple are continually separated by john's increasingly dangerous deployments, meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a constant stream of love letters that eventually trigger fateful consequences. managed to pick up a screening ticket for next week. i've seen the trailer and i liked it. some of the reviews have not been too favourable buty i'm looking forward to this. not too keen on amanda seyfried but channing tatum has impressed in previous films.

    according to imdb, this is "a romantic drama about a soldier who falls for a conservative college student while he's home on leave." starring channing tatum, amanda seyfried, richard jenkins, based on a book written by the author of the notebook - so we know what to expect! this opened in the us last month, and seems to be most popular with young girls, but there is no way this would be a viewers' choice in any film awards. trailer and website - http://www.dearjohn-movie.com/ it is due in the uk in early may.
